It's been awhile since I've been in these parts. Summer vacation is in full swing and I've been taking advantage of the extra time doing other things. Life is good. Lots of changes are happening, which is scary and fun all at the same time. I'm terrified and looking forward to what the next few months is going to look like. I'm turning 30 in November. For a few months, it was very hard for me to say that. Now, I'm looking forward to it. I'm welcoming the new adventure.
At the end of the school year, I learned one of my favorite musicians died. I was at school, reading the news between clients, and saw Adam "MCA" Yauch's photo. I know people would probably never believe me when I say I'm a HUGE Beastie Boys fan. As I've grown older, I became more of a fan of what they do off the mic. MCA was an advocate and a voice for the unheard. I find that the most inspiring as I move forward with Resc\You. I'm hoping that in 2013, Resc\You becomes fulltime. MCA showed me, with his behavior, how to do social work. Even when facing fear, when people don't want to listen, and when you have no idea what you're doing.
Music has been a heavy influence on my life; in every aspect of it. Losing MCA, I hope gives his fans the inspiration to follow in his footsteps; as it has done for me.
